NOM may have told the nation and the IRS that “The mission of [NOM] is to promote the importance of, and advocate for, marriage between one man and one woman, in law and society,” but we all know that NOM isn’t about promoting anything except anti-LGBT animus. The latest proof: NOM is now actively opposing a new law that protects transgender students. From Karen Ocamb at Frontiers LA:
On Aug. 12, Calif. Gov. Jerry Brown signed AB 1266, the School Success and Opportunity Act authored by openly gay Assemblymember Tom Ammiano and sponsored by EQCA, NCLR, Transgender Law Center, ACLU, GSA Network and Gender Spectrum, among other groups. The bill—the first of its kind in the nation—allows trans students equal access to all student activities and facilities. (See more here) [snip]
The religious conservative Capitol Resource Institute freaked out and has filed for a referendum (see below) under the campaign name Privacy for All Students. …And now it looks like CRI has had an infusion of money from somewhere because the referendum “coalition” has hired former pro-Prop. 8 strategist Frank Schubert (lately the Political Director for the National Organization for Marriage) “to advise the coalition during the referendum qualification phase” and “manage the campaign once it qualifies for the ballot.”
Frank Schubert isn’t just NOM’s political director, he created NOM’s anti-marriage equality media campaigns in California, Maine, Washington, North Carolina and Minnesota, just to name a few. If Frank Schubert is involved, NOM is involved.
My friend, this is what’s at stake: our right to raise our children with our values, free from indoctrination into alternative “lifestyles” under the guise of “anti-bullying,” “tolerance” and “gender identity.”
The California Legislature is at it again, this time considering legislation that would strip groups of their tax exemption if their beliefs and practices don’t affirm concepts like “gender identity” and gay “marriage” and other ideas that fly in the face of the teachings of virtually every faith tradition.
So, National Organization For Marriage is about “protecting” straights-only marriage? Uh huh. Hey NOM, your anti-LGBT animus is showing. Again.
